and for the oppenheimer, well, i think perhaps rather more, actually. having been slightly rude about him, i love the picture. you like the picture. very much actually, yes, i do. and as you say, it does grow on you. it has that inner light that i think would be very desirable to collectors. well, value. 12,000. nice. why not? it's a lovely thing. it's extremely scruffy, it's broken, it's even held together with a strip of black tape, but it's a really interesting pot, isn't it? it is, yes. it's intrigued us for years. do you know what form the decoration is? how this decorative effect was achieved? no. it was presumed this is slipware, but i don't know how that really works. well, slip is liquid clay. so you throw your pot, then you cover it in a layer of white liquid clay, slip. then you get a tool and you incise into the liquid clay, which by this time has set a little bit. you incise your decoration, and that's what's been done all over this wonderful pot. this is a family pot that's come down through my wife's side of the family, and if we look at

and carter braxton with oppenheimer, what do you make of this? >> 'wi87 was the one that was s draconian, because it was so fast in one day. the tops have a look and feel over and over and over. the trouble ensues. what i've got here are several tops. a recent top and epic tops. you'll see that the similarities are quite the same. so let's look at a recent period of trouble. what i've juxtaposed is the current two-year market against where we were into the top of may 2011 before the u.s. got the downgrade. stripped by standard & poor's triple rating. that's a fairly benign thing, 20%. but it's the shape and look of the ascent that defeats the top. let's go back to 1937. of course, we had the '29 crash and spent most of the '30s coming off those lows. then we encountered trouble in '37. it was, frankly, in february, and we plunged basically 50% through to the end of the year. what's important again is the correlation with the current two years that we're in right now. it's about 90-plus percent. take a look at '68. in 1968 a very similar two-year
